- Fifteen years ago Mary J. Blige released "My Life," a breakthrough album chronicling her inner struggles while catapulting her to superstardom as the Queen of Hip Hop Soul. In celebration of this milestone, eleven (11) dynamic male artists have recorded re-imaginings of their favorite My Life songs for Men Love Mary: A Tribute to My Life, a mixtape curated by international music & culture online magazine SoulBounce. The EP is hosted by one of Bad Boy's legendary "Hitmen," Chucky Thompson, who was a key producer on the My Life album.
This mixtape features renditions from soul singer Eric Roberson, Bay-area funkster Nino Moschella, Brooklyn’s rising talent Jesse Boykins III, Chicago’s own D Maurice (currently on tour with Eric Roberson), New Jersey-bred crooner Bradd Marquis, NYC vocalist TL Cross, international sensation Darien (featured with Reel People), Canadian producer Slakah the Beatchild, podcaster / musician Fave (from the Friday Favecast) and a bonus MJB remix from producer, Siik.
Mary J. Blige continues to embody the raw emotions of love, sorrow, triumph and happiness in her music. "Men Love Mary: A Tribute to My Life" offers a fresh perspective from anew generation of artists inspired by her sincerity and longevity.
